Here\u2019s what you need to do:<\/strong><\/p>\n Notify the customs authority \u2014 and do so before the transit period expires<\/p>\n Write to the nearest customs authority and state:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2014 what has happened (the specific accident or force majeure event);<\/p>\n \u2014 where the goods are currently located;<\/p>\n \u2014 where the vehicle is located;<\/p>\n \u2014 the number of the document controlling the movement of goods.<\/p>\n \u23f0 This is critical: the notification must be sent before the transit period ends, not after.<\/p>\n Provide documentary evidence of the accident or force majeure<\/strong><\/p>\n Without written confirmation, the situation will not be recognised \u2014 so make sure you have the evidence ready in advance.<\/p>\n If the goods are lost in whole or in part, your task is to preserve what remains and prevent it from being used.<\/p>\n In the presence of a customs official, a report is drawn up detailing: discrepancies between the goods and the documents, damage, issues with packaging or labelling, or loss.<\/p>\n
